Overview :
The global export market for toilet and kitchen linen of terry towels has shown fluctuations, reaching US$ 6,846.5 million in 2022 before dropping to US$ 6,413.3 million in 2023. China continues to lead the market, but its share is steadily declining. China : China remains the largest exporter, peaking at US$ 2,872.4 million in 2018 but gradually decreasing to US$ 2,149.1 million in 2023. The decline can be attributed to rising labor costs and increasing competition from other textile-producing nations, especially in South Asia.
India : India has consistently been the second-largest exporter, with exports ranging between US$ 1,009.2 million in 2020 to US$ 1,078.8 million in 2023.India’s strong position is due to its focus on quality, competitive pricing, and adaptability to
market trends, particularly in sustainable textiles.
Pakistan : Pakistan’s exports grew steadily, reaching US$ 1,081.8 million in 2022 before a slight dip to US$ 1,012.7 million in 2023. Pakistan’s competitive advantage lies in its low production costs, but it faces challenges from rising energy prices and supply chain issues.
India’s Position :India has solidified its position as the second-largest global exporter of terry towels, with exports rebounding to US$ 1,078.8 million in 2023. India’s competitive pricing and a growing emphasis on sustainable and organic textiles have kept it strong in key markets like the USA and Europe. The country’s focus on innovation, eco-friendly products, and improved production capacity ensures its continued relevance in the global market. India’s textile sector benefits from government initiatives supporting exports and increasing global demand for high-quality Indian home textiles.
